Ari Barz

Co-CEO

Mr. Barz has 17 years of experience in the merchant power sector, and was most recently a Managing Director at Strategic Value Partners from 2016 - 2025, where he led the firm’s efforts in the power space. Among other investments, Mr. Barz led the underwriting and management of the firm’s investment in GenOn Holdings, where he recruited and worked closely with Mr. Freysinger and Mr. Schaefer in successfully optimizing and monetizing a 12 GW fleet of power assets. Prior to that, Mr. Barz held roles at Citigroup and BlueMountain Capital focused on the power sector. He holds a BS in Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and completed all three levels of the CFA Program.

Dave Freysinger

Co-CEO

Mr. Freysinger has nearly 25 years of experience in the merchant power sector. He is currently Chairman of the Board of GenOn Holdings and served as its CEO from 2018 - 2024. At GenOn, he led the successful operational transformation of a 12 GW fleet of power assets, significantly improving reliability, commercial effectiveness and the cost structure. Prior to GenOn, Mr. Freysinger served in various leaderships roles at both public and private companies in the power sector, including at EquiPower Resources through its successful sale to Dynegy and at Reliant Energy through its ultimate merger with Mirant. He holds a BA in Economics and Mathematics from Dickinson College, and an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

Stephen Schaefer

Senior Advisor

Mr. Schaefer has over 30 years of experience in the merchant power sector, and currently serves as the Chairman of the Board at Talen Energy (Nasdaq: TLN), and is on the boards of Just Energy and GenOn Holdings, where he has worked closely with Mr. Freysinger and Mr. Barz since 2018. Mr. Schaefer was previously a Partner at Riverstone Holdings from 2004 - 2015, has held various leadership roles in the merchant power space including at Huron Consulting and Duke Energy, and has served on the boards of several power companies including TexGen, Homer City, Topaz Power, Pattern Energy and Element Markets. He holds a BS in Finance and Accounting from Northeastern University and is a CFA charterholder.

Angela Smith

Business Operations Manager

Mrs. Smith joined EverGen Power in 2025. She has over 30 years of leadership experience in finance and operations across the energy sector. Prior to joining EverGen, she served as Managing Director of Fixed Assets, HR & Accounts Payable at GenOn Energy, where she led multi-functional teams and oversaw major system and process improvements. From 2007–2018, she held several leadership roles at Dynegy, including Senior Director of Settlements & Accounts Payable, Manager of Treasury, and Manager of Settlements Accounting. Earlier in her career, she worked with Enron Energy Services in settlements and accounting operations.  Mrs. Smith holds a bachelor’s degree from Clark Atlanta University. 



Adam Duffy-Fagan

Vice President - Acquisitions and Asset Management 

Mr. Duffy-Fagan joined EverGen in 2025 and has over 10 years of experience in the merchant power, mining, and oil & gas sectors. He was most recently a Senior Director at GenOn Energy from 2020 – 2025 where he led M&A transactions and asset optimization initiatives across GenOn’s 12 GW thermal generation fleet. Prior to GenOn, Mr. Duffy-Fagan was a Manager with Deloitte Consulting where he focused strategic acquisitions and asset transformation programs for clients in the mining and oil & gas sectors. He holds an MBA from the Yale School of Management, a Bachelor of Commerce from McGill University, and is a CFA Charterholder.


Natasha Turkmani

Senior Associate - Acquisitions and Asset Management

Ms. Turkmani joined EverGen in 2025. She was most recently at EIG from 2022-2025, where she underwrote and managed investments across the energy value chain, including thermal generation, renewables, and gas infrastructure. Prior to that, she was a consultant with Charles River Associates in the Energy Practice, where she advised electric utilities on their resource planning and strategy. Natasha holds a BSE in Civil & Environmental Engineering from Princeton University, and received her Master’s in Energy Technologies from University of Cambridge as a Gates Cambridge Scholar.
